Three Years of Design

Typically when you hear about a car taking three years to come to fruition, you're expecting a high-end supercar that costs more than a six-bedroom house that you can only drive when it's precisely 72 degrees with 21 percent humidity. But with the Arteon, all of that attention to detail went into making a perfectly designed four-door fastback sedan that you can enjoy driving on your daily commute or a week-long road trip with equal enthusiasm.

Inside, clean lines pull the entire interior together and make everything feel like it is in exactly the right place. A simple sweeping curve arches over the instrument cluster and settles in to a clean, shallow arc all the way to the passenger door. Three lines extend clear across the entire face of the dash and incorporate the air vents seamlessly to keep everything looking just right. In the center, an analog clock gives you a high-end feel, and below, the center stack wraps around the infotainment display and tapers beautifully down to the lower console all the way to the cup holders. In case it weren't already obvious, the intent in designing the Arteon was to create simple elegance that was both seamless and alluring.

On the exterior this cohesive concept truly shines. The smiling chrome grille lines merge perfectly with the signature LED strips in the headlights and give the Arteon a distinct face that just feels right. Above that, the seam at the front lip of the hood continues across the top of the headlights and carries on straight down the sides before skipping across the top of the taillights. This unbroken line creates a distinct and intentional feeling of connectedness and once again keeps things simple while adding an intriguing layer of detail. Toward the bottom, a chrome strip sits below the contour of the doors and continues by wrapping around the entire rear bumper. Dual chrome exhaust exits give the rear a balanced look, and the overall fastback design is sleek, sporty and aerodynamic.

Performance

We've well established that the Arteon is a gorgeous thing to look at, but at the end of the day you still have to drive it. Fortunately it delivers here as well, offering an inspiring level of performance that is both responsive and comfortable. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that sits under the hood delivers Wyoming, MI drivers 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque that will send a shot of joy through you every time you give the throttle a kick. And all of that fun won't break the bank thanks to an EPA-estimated 31 mpg highway and 22 mpg city.

Handling the winding roads of Kentville and Holland MI just got more fun thanks to the DCC adaptive chassis control and 4Motion® all-wheel drive available on the new Arteon. The DCC® system gives you fifteen different suspension settings to choose from, from sharp race-inspired handling to a soft and comfortable cruise. This system can even automatically adjust the damping forces at each wheel individually to help keep you pinned to the road while you're driving enthusiastically, and offers superior shock absorption when driving over rough winter-ravaged roads.

The 4Motion® all-wheel drive system works intelligently to give you control when you need it and balanced fuel economy. By sensing your inputs, vehicle speed, and wheel slip it sends power between the front and rear axles as needed to provide superior cornering ability in dry conditions and added control when things get slippery.

For you truly spirited drivers out there, the XDS Cross-Differential system was made for you. By braking the inside wheel while cornering it helps pull you toward the apex and keep you on your desired line.
